About Sherrie Travis & Associates

Sherrie Travis is a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law. She received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Illinois in Urbana.

Since her graduation from law school, Ms. Travis has specialized in management labor and employment law counseling. She worked for a major Midwest management association before practicing at Gardner, Carton & Douglas and Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, both large, full-service law firms headquartered in Chicago. Ms. Travis started her own practice at the beginning of 2009.

In addition to serving her clients, Ms. Travis currently acts as chief employment counsel for the three court-appointed compliance administrators who are charged with investigating claims of illegal political-based hiring in various units of Cook County government and developing hiring plans that will assure those activities do not occur in the future. She has been named one of Illinois’ Super Lawyers for 2010, a designation based on peer recognition and professional achievement. She is also rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell in its Peer Review Ratings, receiving its highest rating in all five areas of legal performance.

Ms. Travis has given frequent presentations to local and national groups such as the Illinois Bar Association and the National Industry Liaison Group. She has also had articles published in journals such as the Employment Law Strategist and Corporate Counselor.
